MSU Moorhead held off Jamestown 16-10 Saturday at Rollie Greeno Field at Charlotte & Gordon Stadium in the Jimmies’ final home game of the season and UJ’s 16th straight loss. The Dragons (6-4, 5-4 NSIC), looking to break a two-game losing streak, scored on the game’s first possession, ending the drive with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Drew Huebner to Jack Julson just over five minutes into the first quarter. With two minutes left in the quarter, the Jimmies (0-10, 0-9) tried for points, but a 40-yard field goal try by Ethan Lieb barely missed wide right. In the second quarter, the Jimmies did score.  Their drive included a 15-yard completion from Jacob Mattick to Ethan Hoffman and was helped by two MSUM penalties.  Lieb kicked a 23-yard field goal and Jamestown cut the MSU Moorhead lead to 7-3 with 6:56 remaining in the first half. Answering on their next drive, the Dragons took a 13-3 lead with 1:59 left in the half on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Huebner to Kalen Lucas, one of his 13 catches.  The Jimmies’ Jack Young then blocked the extra point attempt. After Jamestown punted, MSU Moorhead had one more possession in the first half, but Xander Jarosh made an interception on the last play of the half. MSU Moorhead led 16-3 after a 27-yard field goal by Max Watson with 2:57 left in the third quarter. Jamestown had two big defensive stops in the fourth quarter.  Spencer Russell broke up a fourth-down pass by the Dragons, then Antonio Bernadini forced a fumble, which was recovered by Jarosh at the Dragons’ 36 with 4:40 to play. The Jimmies then scored in just two plays.  Mattick threw a 35-yard pass to Riley Svanda to the MSUM one yard line, followed by a touchdown pass from Matthew Dosch to Jordan Theisen with 3:50 left to cut the Dragons’ lead to 16-10. MSU Moorhead’s bid to run out the clock nearly failed.  The Dragons had fourth down & two at the Jimmies’ 34 when Huebner overthrew Seth Staloch, but Russell was called for pass interference and MSU then ran out the last seconds. Svanda had a career-high five catches for 70 yards.  Hoffman also made five receptions.  Jackson Handel also recovered a fumble.  Zach Mueller made 10 tackles. Jamestown will end its season on Saturday, November 14 at Northern State.  Coverage will begin at 1:30 PM on Jamestown 107.1 .
