Oakes police warn parents about children sneaking out at night

OAKES, N.D. — Police in Oakes, North Dakota, are sending out a warning and making a plea to parents. Police issued a statement on Facebook on Tuesday, Sept. 22, saying they're seeing an issue with youth, some as young as middle school students, sneaking out at night to drink alcohol and vape at the school park and other residences. Police say they believe some adults are supplying the alcohol and vaping products and anyone responsible will face charges. Police also intend to increase patrols in certain areas. "The information shared by the Oakes Police Department is concerning, particularly whenever the health and safety of young people may be involved," said Anna Sell, superintendent of the Oakes School District.
